While dnsmasq add dbus support if this one is selected, this isn't specified anywhere. I've added an option in the config menu that simply select dbus.

Many optional support options are automatic in buildroot, like SSL (via OpenSSL) for example.
We want to avoid the "option overload" scenario so i'd say "WONTFIX".

Peter and/or other devels are free to reopen but this has been standard issue for quite some time now.

I agree, I prefer to keep things as simple as possible as well.
